COTUIT, Mass.-
June 15, 2016 Joe Mockbee fired five innings of two-run ball yet the Whitecaps offense was unable to provide run support as the Caps fell to Cotuit, 5-3 on Wednesday night. Brewster moves to 2-3 with the loss. Mockbee struck out five and walked two and received the no-decision in the contest. The Whitecaps struck first, as Brandon Champman doubled in the top of the second inning to score Jared Barnes who worked a walk before him. Hansen Butler took over on the hill for the Caps with the score knotted at 2-2, yet Tim Susnara ripped a two-out bases loaded two-run RBI single as a pinch hitter to push Cotuit to a 4-2 lead and propel them to victory. They would extend the lead to 5-2 in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly. The Caps added a run in the top of the ninth, yet it was not enough as Cotuit recorded the 5-3 victory, their first of the season. Ross Achter posted 4 1/3 strong innings of relief, giving up one run and allowing just two hits. He received the win and Butler took the loss for Brewster. The Caps return to action tomorrow night, as they face YD at home in Brewster, at 5 p.m. Comments are closed.
