June 17, 2016 Ryan Noda worked a bases loaded walk to put the Whitecaps ahead 3-2 in the top of the tenth inning and Ryan Gridley drove in a run on sac-fly as the Caps secured the 4-2 victory on Friday night in Chatham. They improve to 3-4 with the victory. The Whitecaps trailed the for the majority of the game, coming from behind in the eighth inning to tied the game as Brent Rooker drove a ball deep to center to tie the game via sac-fly. The Anglers opened the scoring and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Sean Bouchard led off the second with a double and later scored home Kyle Adams hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Bryan King fired five innings of two run ball and Chatham starter J.B. Bukauskas struck out nine of the 15 batters he faced through five innings. Neither starter would record the decision, yet it was Zac Lowther who shined in relief for the Whitecaps, retiring nine straight batters, all on strikeouts to earn the win. Stuart Fairchild’s RBI infield single made it 2-0 in the bottom of the third. The Anglers would not score again, as the Caps held them off the board for the remainder of the contest. Logan Warmouth opened the tenth by working a walk and Nick Dunn was hit by a pitch, and Rooker walked to load the bases for Noda. His walk would drive in the winning run and the Caps added insurance to secure the 4-2 victory. The Caps return to action tomorrow night, at they face Cotuit at home at 5 p.m. Comments are closed.
