ORLEANS, Mass- The Whitecaps offense came up short, and starter Ryan Feltner allowed six earned runs over four innings as the Brewster Whitecaps fell to the Orleans Firebirds 7-3 on Wednesday night. The Caps fall to 6-5 with the loss.
The Whitecaps’ starter tossed four complete innings, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out one. The Caps struck first in the contest as Brent Rooker delivered an RBI single in the top of the first to put Brewster up 1-0. The Firebirds would strike back in the bottom half of the frame and add two runs on a Riley Adams RBI single to make it 2-1. Adam Haseley would extend the Orleans advantage in the bottom of the third with a homer to deep left field. Keegan McGovern then ripped a three-run homer to extend the Firebirds lead to 5-1. In the top of the fifth, Nicholas Dunn laced a ball deep to left center field to cut the Orleans lead to four. The Firebirds would strike again in the sixth as Golsan blasted a pitch from Bryan King deep down the left field line, putting the Birds up by five once again to make it 7-2. The Firebirds bullpen was strong and limited the Caps to one run over four and a third innings of relief. The Caps loaded the bases in the Top of the eighth, yet were unable to capitalize as the Firebirds secured the 7-3 victory. Brewster will return to action as they host the Hyannis Harbor Hawks on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Comments are closed.
