BREWSTER, M.A. - Let's keep this short and sweet. It was a very uneventful first meeting with the Falmouth Commodores for the Whitecaps.
The Commodores beat the Whitecaps 14-2. They had six home runs and 15 hits. The hopes of a third straight Whitecaps win were shattered from the second inning when the Commodores pushed across their first run.
The Whitecaps showed no sign of anything until a Colin Davis (Wofford) two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. That was the only bright spot for the Whitecaps on the day.
A couple of newcomers Trey Faltine and Pete Hansen, both from the University of Texas, made their first Whitecaps starts.
Something to look forward to for Whitecaps fans will be the middle infield of Zach Neto (Campbell) and Trey Faltine (Texas). These two are a couple of the best defensive infielders in the country.
The loss might seem painful right now to most. The Whitecaps are still right in the mix in their division. Also, we aren't even halfway through the season yet.
The Whitecaps now (6-5-2) will be home again tomorrow at 5 p.m against; Hyannis.
