Proud to Play in Brewster!

In 2008 the Brewster Whitecaps celebrate their third season on their new home field at Stony Brook School in Brewster.  Last summer the Whitecaps finished third in the Eastern Division of the Cape Cod Baseball League, but first in the hearts of the hometown Brewster fans.  We look forward to another great season in 2008.

What the Whitecaps look for:

The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier collegiate summer wood bat league in the nation. To live up to that reputation, the philosophy in Brewster has always been to assemble the most competitive team possible.

Naturally, you have to make sure you don’t end up with four catchers and no shortstop. But aside from seeking the right balance of offense, defense and pitching, what are the Club’s recruiting criteria? What do the Whitecaps look for as they build the roster each season? Here are some of Coach Mac’s thoughts on the subject.

“First and foremost, we talk to college coaches and professional scouts to lead us in the right direction for the selection of the players. Of course, previous performance and statistics in college are important. Additionally, players who have been successful in other highly competitive summer collegiate baseball leagues are usually promising candidates for our roster. Finally, we try to select players who are solid citizens. We want young men who are dependable, self-confident and self-disciplined enough to play hard for an entire summer, with all its ups and downs.”

The Bayside Skippers

"Don't "skip" the refreshments. If those youngsters at the food concessions seem enthusiastic, it's because they're working for a worthy cause. They're all members of the Bayside Skippers, Brewster's nationally acclaimed jump rope team, which shares in the proceeds at Whitecaps home games this season. here for details

Order a hot dog or a cold drink at a Whitecaps game and watch how the Skippers jump.
