CHATHAM, Mass-
Kade McClure tossed six innings of scoreless baseball as the Brewster Whitecaps fell the Chatham Anglers 2-0 on Saturday night at Veterans Field in Chatham. The Caps fall to 8-6 with the loss. McLure and Chatham starting pitcher Tanner Chock were locked in a pitcher’s duel through the early innings, as McLure posted six scoreless innings, while Chock tossed five. McLure allowed two hits while walking one batter and striking out a season-high eight. The Whitecaps got base runners to third in the fourth and fifth innings yet were unable to capitalize. They loaded the bases in the sixth, but Matt Davis grounded into a double play as they failed to score. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when Hunter Lee ripped an RBI single to shortstop to score Stuart Fairchild who reached on a fielder’s choice. With Chatham ahead 1-0, the Anglers then worked the bases loaded yet D.J Artis flew out to Ryan Noda in left center field to end the frame. Simon Matthews fired a scoreless eighth for Chatham and Jake Palomaki added a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 2-0 game. The Caps were unable to score in the top of the ninth, as the Chatham Anglers secured the 2-0 victory. The Whitecaps return to action tomorrow night as they return home to face the Wareham Gatemen at 5 p.m. Comments are closed.
