June 18, 2016 Matt Davis and Brent Rooker each went 2-4 and propelled the Whitecaps offense to victory on Saturday night in Brewster. Brewster’s offense exploded for seven runs on 10 hits and three walks. The Caps improve to 4-4 with the victory. Aaron Soto picked up his second win of the season for the Whitecaps despite allowing four earned runs over six innings. Soto struck out five, walked three and gave up eight hits. The Caps trailed 5-3 after a pinch-hit grand slam by Corey Voss in the fifth, yet they battled back in the bottom half of the frame as Logan Warmoth ripped a leadoff solo homer to left to make it a 5-4 game. A.J Graffanino sent a liner down the right field line to plate two runs and give the Caps a 6-4 lead in the sixth. A Ryan Noda sacrifice fly scored Warmoth for Brewster’s seventh run in the seventh inning. The Caps bullpen posted another strong night, shutting down Cotuit as Jacob Westphal and Jacob Wloczewski combined for three innings of scoreless relief to secure the victory. The Caps return to action tomorrow, to face the Bourne Braves on the road at 6 p.m. Comments are closed.
